Avery/GM: Welcome to episode 58 of Beyond the Furthest Stars.
(Intro plays and fades out, Background music fades in)
So you all arrive back at the docking bay.
Chris/Ollie: Ollie just says, get on.
Bee/Polaris: Oh, we're riding Ollie back?
Jenine/Marty: The other bots back.
Bee/Polaris: Wait, even better, because Ollie can't carry both of us. So, Marty, Marty can ride Ollie, and Polaris has roller skates.
Avery/GM: And a jetpack.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, so, yeah, so he can also hold on to Ollie's tail while he runs.
Chris/Ollie: There's a, like, you're using the five bots as, like, sled dogs?
Bee/Polaris: Yes! Yes! Yes! Just a magical girl going, running, like, skating through the city with five drones.
Jenine/Marty: My heart!
Avery/GM: Oh my gosh, I love this.
Bee/Polaris: And Marty riding a giant golden retriever puppy. Amazing!
Avery/GM: Oh my gosh, this, yeah, this is great. No, yeah, you're running, you're running through the city. People are, like, getting out of the way, like, Whoa, what's this?
What are they doing? How, why are they running like this? It's a weird sight to behold, but, um, But yeah, you end up making it back to the docking bay. And Rho and Psi, they're unloading some, looks like some personal luggage from the TSFKAM. And Rho says, Oh, is everything okay?
Bee/Polaris: Uh, some friends are in trouble. What's going on here?
Avery/GM: My, my brother is kind of getting sick again.
Bee/Polaris: Oh.
Avery/GM: And, uh, and you look at Psi and he, he does look kind of pale, um, in the face, like lost a lot of his color and is kind of a little unsteady on his legs while he's trying to carry this luggage. Rho's like, he, he wants to go back to the facility that he was at here on the planet for a little bit.
And so I was gonna join him. I was actually hoping to be all unloaded when you got back so we weren't holding you up. And then we could kind of explain what was going on.
Bee/Polaris: Oh, I mean, we could If it's the f Is it the facility that we, uh, saved Rue at? Mm hmm. We could just drop you off. We could just give you a ride there.
Avery/GM: Oh, are Are you sure? We We didn't want to just impose.
Bee/Polaris: No, you're fine. You've helped us a ton. It's the least we could do.
Avery/GM: Okay. Um, yeah, let me just You And And she turns to her brother. She's like, Why are we bothering loading and unloading like this? And then she just snaps her fingers and the stuff teleports back onto the ship.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, what?
Avery/GM: He's like, oh, yeah, I didn't think about that. I'm gonna I'm gonna go go sit down and he'd like kind of wobbles into the back of the the ramp.
Bee/Polaris: Buckle in cuz I'm gonna be driving fast. Ollie, could you or Marty, either one of you, could either one of you message Oswald and let him know that we're bringing Silver shield to the
Jenine/Marty: Marty's already doing the entire medical diagnostics as this was happening.
Bee/Polaris: Excellent. Okay, cool. Alright, well, we're gonna drop them off and then we're gonna go see about
Chris/Ollie: And Ollie also immediately goes and starts making a copy, a little data disk of all the info we got about the Milky Way. Uh, where the coordination, the coordinates of the wormholes, all the data from her Her ship computer.
Avery/GM: Sure. Okay. Sounds good. Marty, you're doing this diagnostic as Silver Shield gets kind of strapped in and buckled in, and you're seeing that like, so when you first discovered Rho, you saw that she had like cell regeneration that was going on that was like faster than the normal rate for a human.
You see that the Silver Shield's cells are degrading. at an alarming rate and are not regenerating. Something is almost seemingly eating him from the inside out, it seems like, is the best way to And, uh, he kind of looks up at you and is just like, Don't, don't tell Rho. She, she won't be able to handle it.
This is, uh, this is the end result of what they, the experiments they did back in the Milky Way. It's eventually going to happen to her too. Without that medicine, it's probably still a good 30 years that she has, but this is, you know, I've I've already been here 30 years, so. And he coughs a little bit, and there's some blood on the, on the glove that he's wearing.
Jenine/Marty: Why did my brain want to do Prestidigitation in that moment? And I, I'm not even, I, I as Jenine have not played D& D in over a year.
Bee/Polaris: That's so funny.
Jenine/Marty: So there's no, I was like, why, why was it my first instinct to hide that? And then, she, Marty just nods in response to that. And. Sends the paperwork over. To Oswald.
Bee/Polaris: Um, Polaris will message Marty and ask how Psi's doing and what's going on. Cause, Marty was taking medical readings and whatnot.
Jenine/Marty: Um, Marty is going to respond with, I don't want her to do this, but she's going to. Um, it's between patient, And then immediately just says, in all caps, after, I'm so sorry.
Bee/Polaris: Polaris just sends a question mark and says, okay, well I hope he's doing alright.
Avery/GM: Um, and uh, Marty, um, Oswald replies back real quick and says, we'll have a team on standby ready for him. We'll do all we can to make him comfortable.
Jenine/Marty: Um, and then I think Marty will also send another message saying I think she's gonna try This is a future thing for Marty. I think she's gonna try and figure out what to how we can prevent this for Rho.
Bee/Polaris: Hey, um, the reason why Polaris asked is because you know Polaris can regenerate his cells.
Jenine/Marty: You're right. You're right.
Bee/Polaris: And Polaris has the paperwork on that. But Polaris doesn't know what's going on with Psi.
Jenine/Marty: You're right. Marty has three things thrown at her in this moment. And is scurred. Homegirl didn't even finish her internship.
Bee/Polaris: I'm scared. I'm so scared for Psi and Rho.
Jenine/Marty: Homegirl hasn't finished anything.
Bee/Polaris: That is true. We did kind of blow up the ship.
Jenine/Marty: She was supposed to do an internship.
Bee/Polaris: This is very rough. I'm very sad. Why would you do this to us? I'm kidding.
Jenine/Marty: Rho's is not going as fast. I'm gonna know what these notes mean later. Connect dots with Polaris. Polaris stuff. But yeah, this is a future thing for Marty. She will start trying to learn and fix this on the side. This is her new side project.
Avery/GM: Sure.
Jenine/Marty: Not even a project, this is a thesis.
Bee/Polaris: How long does Psi have left?
Jenine/Marty: Marty's not gonna do that math. She's not gonna want to do that math.
Bee/Polaris: I'm so sad. Okay.
Avery/GM: I just found my brother and now he's
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, exactly! I'm so sad!
Jenine/Marty: I know, I know, I know.
Bee/Polaris: We could save him.
Jenine/Marty: We'll figure it out.
Bee/Polaris: That's why Polaris was made.
Jenine/Marty: Watch there be more drugs that I have that actually work in this situation and I still forget that I have the drugs on me.
Bee/Polaris: Turns out you have the medicine in the bag from the Winstons.
Avery/GM: Okay, if they had that medicine, that would be crazy.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, I'm kidding.
Jenine/Marty: I highly doubt these ones will work. Well, uh, I say that now and then jump cut ten sessions later.
Bee/Polaris: Anyway, this is sad. Uh, so we drop him off for Psi to die.
Avery/GM: Maybe. He might still be He might still be alive by the time you get back. Depends on how long it takes.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah. I'm so sad! Not Psi, we barely got to know him.
I'm losing
Chris/Ollie: so many friends.
Bee/Polaris: I know Oh, yeah, what the f
Jenine/Marty: Can we go get our pirate friends, please? Marty is very attached to them.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, well, Blitz is the only one left, so I guess we only go get Blitz, because all the other ones are dead.
Jenine/Marty: Marty is distraught.
Avery/GM: I didn't think I killed that many of your friends.
Jenine/Marty: Not yet.
Bee/Polaris: You've killed so many of our We don't have that many friends. When your number of friends is three and you killed two of them.
Jenine/Marty: This is true.
Avery/GM: They haven't died yet. They're still alive.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, Blitz hasn't. Anyway, we're going to go find Blitz after we drop him off and save the guys.
Chris/Ollie: They're just dying.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, they're just dying.
Avery/GM: Yeah, you drop Psi and Rho off at the Institute and, um, Oswald is like there in the parking lot waiting with, um, the medical gurney that y'all actually used for Rho earlier.
Bee/Polaris: We did leave that behind.
Avery/GM: Um, and, uh, and yeah, he has Psi take a seat and looks at Rho. Rho, and it's just like, Oh, you're, you're staying too. And she gives a nod and looks back at you, Marty, and you get a mental message that just says, come back soon. We'll miss you.
Jenine/Marty: Oh, Marty's just going to respond back with an emoji, but specifically like in the brain,
Chris/Ollie: brain emoji,
Jenine/Marty: but like, it's just like an actual picture of the two of them hugging.
Bee/Polaris: Aww. You can just for real hug them
Jenine/Marty: though. I, I, I get that. But you guys didn't know that she was having a conversation in her brain.
Bee/Polaris: That is true. Polaris is probably helping get the personal effects because he has roller skates, so he's just skating back and forth.
Chris/Ollie: And Ollie, uh, gives him the data disc.
Avery/GM: Sure, uh, Rho looks at it. And then looks at you and is just like, what's this?
Chris/Ollie: This is everything we found from, uh, everything we found. About where you were from. Including potential ways to get back.
Avery/GM: She reaches down and, and, Pats your head and is just like, I don't think we'll be going back, but, Thanks, Ollie. This means a lot. Just be sure to protect the others. And yourself, of course, but, you know, You probably have backup bodies that we don't know about.
Chris/Ollie: Indeed, do not worry about me, but I will protect them, assuredly.
Avery/GM: Alright, and y'all blast off from the Institute with a wave and a goodbye. And you're heading towards Captain Blitz and his S. O. S. that he has sent you.
Bee/Polaris: Full speed,
Jenine/Marty: my sweet man!
Chris/Ollie: Full speed for Polaris.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah.
Avery/GM: Uh, yeah, go ahead and roll a pilot check, then.
Bee/Polaris: Oh, sick.
Chris/Ollie: Dexterity pilot. Best air pilot, this side of the milky sippy.
Bee/Polaris: Holy shit! Max! Yeah, I rolled, cause I get, I have a special, I'm specialized in it, so I can roll three, drop the lowest.
I rolled two sixes and a four. So, twelve plus, wait, is it dexterity pilot? Okay, so that's gonna, no. Um. Sixteen, I believe.
Chris/Ollie: We teleport there.
Avery/GM: God damnit.
Bee/Polaris: We're just there.
Avery/GM: Nearabouts, uh, it, yeah, you, you take the, this journey that normally would take probably about 20 hours. Uh, you, you cut a few shortcuts in the hyperspace loop. Uh, route. Not loop. Route. And, yeah, you arrive in eight hours. And what you find is a, the remnants of a space battlefield. Um, there are broken ships floating all around. Some of them have the Pirate Cruise logo emblazoned on them. Others have the Hegemony logo all over them as well. And some of them have the logo of the system's, uh, defense force as well.
So it looks like there was some sort of like, three way engagement going on. You also see the remnants of the, uh, the Eos, which you escaped. And, well, you don't see them, but you do pick up the, uh, signature of, of that, of its remains, um, on a nearby asteroid. Uh, you do pick up a sig a general S. O. S. signal coming from one of these asteroids with another ship crashed on it.
Bee/Polaris: Fly into that ship immediately.
Chris/Ollie: That ship visually comes in as the Crimson pirates.
Avery/GM: Yes, as you approach it, you do see that it does have the pirates logo on it.
Bee/Polaris: What was the third, uh, party that was, uh, engaging in battle? It was the hegemony of the Crimson Chaos, and Who else?
Chris/Ollie: Like the local system forces.
Avery/GM: Anyway, uh, yeah. So you all are, um, heading towards this S. O. S. signal then? Marty, as you approach, the, uh, communication station goes off and Captain Blitz comes over the speakers. And it's just like, I have never been so happy to see that ship on the horizon. Marty, is that you?
Jenine/Marty: Hi! Hello!
Avery/GM: All right, it's, it's gonna be a little tricky, uh, getting me out of here. I I have a small pocket of air left in this, in this section of the ship, but I am completely sealed in, like, if I open the doors, I won't be able to, like, I won't be able to breathe, and I can't put my, I, I couldn't, I couldn't get my bubble seal on in time. You have any, any way to maybe get me out of here in a, in a, in a, quickly?
Chris/Ollie: Real quick, how big is this, uh, ship he's in?
Jenine/Marty: Yeah.
Avery/GM: This section of ship is like, I would say it's probably like 30 feet by about 20 feet. And it's like, it's basically the bridge of his former
Jenine/Marty: Ship.
Avery/GM: fleet ship. Yeah, exactly.
Jenine/Marty: We couldn't swallow it into our ship?
Avery/GM: Yeah, could it fit in the cargo bag? Like,
Bee/Polaris: no, it's just too big. Cause ours is a shuttle. The TSKAM is a shuttle, or a merchant.
Avery/GM: Did you take the TSKAM or did you go back to the Cassiopeia?
Jenine/Marty: TSKAM,
Bee/Polaris: cause the Cassiopeia would've taken longer. It's a bigger ship. Okay, that's fine. But, uh, cause the TSKAM has been able to dock onto other ships. So couldn't we dock onto like To, like, vacuum seal it to the outside of a ship and then cut a hole to just let them in.
Avery/GM: So you have been able to do that with You did that with the space station?
Bee/Polaris: Mm hmm.
Avery/GM: Because the space station had an airlock?
Bee/Polaris: Yeah. This doesn't have an airlock yet. But, I That, I mean, it not having an airlock is fine. But, like, if we can Because I assume in order to, like, actually line up with, uh, the airlocks to dock There's some sort of magnet in place that kind of seals the ship to the outside so that it can
Avery/GM: That's a good question, yes. So you would be able to do that, that would be fine.
Bee/Polaris: So Polaris will just maneuver the part of the ship that like walks onto the airlock to like just above him. And then, like, lock on, like, with the magnets to, like, seal it. And then he's gonna jump down and use his laser blades to cut a hole. So that he can get him out.
Chris/Ollie: Yeah, use the umbilical. Perfect.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah.
Avery/GM: Sure.
Bee/Polaris: And then we also have an extra vac suit. I mean, we have extra Vacsuits, right?
Avery/GM: Oh, easily.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, so we can just give him one of those for extra protection.
Avery/GM: Okay, that sounds good.
Bee/Polaris: Sick.
Avery/GM: There we go. Um, yeah, so, as you, uh, latch onto this, uh, busted piece of ship, a, uh, a laser blast does fire near, uh, where you're maneuvering just as like a warning shot. And Marty, you are getting another communication. Do you want to answer it or ignore it?
Jenine/Marty: I say I will, I will open the channel and wait to see if someone responds.
Avery/GM: Sure. Yeah. The channel opens and there is a very A serious sounding voice coming over the line that just says, You have entered restricted space. Please state your purpose.
Jenine/Marty: One of my friends is in danger and asked us to come and help them.
Avery/GM: Are you saying you are friends with the Crimson Chaos Pirates?
Jenine/Marty: Who's asking? Wait, sorry, that was a little aggressive. That's my bad.
Bee/Polaris: Huh, what are you, a cop?
Chris/Ollie: What are you, a cop? You gotta tell me if you're a cop.
Jenine/Marty: Sorry, that's my bad. My, my apologies. The Crimson Pirates saved us from a situation, so we're kind of returning the favor in that way. And I would consider that friends, but I consider everyone friends unless they hurt me in some way. Are you a friend or are you a foe?
Avery/GM: We're Tochia system defense. We're, we're here to protect our system from the constant invasions by pirates, the hegemony, and just about everyone else... are... You consider everyone a friend?
Jenine/Marty: Yeah, is that not the nice thing to do? Cause everyone thinks everyone's evil, so
Bee/Polaris: Marty, tell them that we are not friends with the hegemony.
Jenine/Marty: Oh wait, that one's actually not. Yeah, that's actually true, we're not friends with the hegemony. That one I forgot, because they were mean to us, and we're not friends with them. Also, are we friends with the guy that hunted us down?
Bee/Polaris: What, Coil? Yeah.
Jenine/Marty: We're friends with him now?
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, we're friends with him. Yeah, we're friends with coil.
Jenine/Marty: Yeah, so No, no, like, Mar No, Marty asks that question to chat. Um, with the mic still on.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, Polaris says, Yeah, we're friends with Coil.
Jenine/Marty: Oh, okay. So, decently friends with everyone. Hegemony is not one of those friends that we're In fact,
Bee/Polaris: I would say It's not a friend anymore.
Jenine/Marty: Well, actually not really a friend anymore.
Bee/Polaris: Never a friend. I would say we are Hegemony is enemy number one for us.
Jenine/Marty: This is true. So we don't like the hegemony. But most of the time, I kind of give people spa I give being space to prove they are friends or not. Cause again, no one really does that, so I will take that space to do it. So first right now, you're our friend, but you did Were you the one that just shot at us?
Avery/GM: Yes, yes I did.
Jenine/Marty: But why didn't you just ask first?
Avery/GM: Um, just uh, just part of our protocol I suppose, just fire a warning shot.
Jenine/Marty: But you almost did shoot us and you could have hurt us, and then we could have just lost all air and you didn't even have this nice little conversation with me.
Bee/Polaris: You got him.
Avery/GM: I am feeling very confused and conflicted. Hmm. You're right. That was kind of rude.
Bee/Polaris: Oh my god.
Jenine/Marty: Do you wanna, do you wanna have tea after we save our friend please? Cause they only have a small little pocket of air. Did you ask if they were being mean? Or did you just shoot too?
Avery/GM: I mean, they're pirates. They're by definition kind of mean.
Bee/Polaris: That's not true.
Jenine/Marty: Well, no.
Bee/Polaris: Captain Blitz gives amazing hugs.
Jenine/Marty: And also is a really good guest for tea. One of my favorites actually that we've had so far for tea time.
Bee/Polaris: Not everyone is a one dimensional person.
Jenine/Marty: I almost said the Shrek quote. I almost, I almost said the Shrek quote about an onion.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah. Well, were we able to get close to the ship?
Avery/GM: Yeah, you were locked on.
Bee/Polaris: Okay, cool. Yeah.
Jenine/Marty: Oh, okay. So we're doing, yeah. Marty's kind of still distracted, but is trying to have a genuine conversation. Of what's happening right now.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, Polaris is just shouting this in the background.
Avery/GM: Yeah, actually, Polaris, go ahead and roll a Dexterity stab.
Bee/Polaris: Oh boy, one of my better stats.
Avery/GM: And Marty, go ahead and roll a Charisma Connect or Charisma Lead.
Chris/Ollie: Uh, Ollie would also like to, uh, looking at these ship combat actions.
Avery/GM: Sure.
Chris/Ollie: Prepare a crash systems, uh, comm action. Like a preemptive. So if they start firing again, he's going to hit them with it.
Bee/Polaris: I'm going to spend, uh, this How are we considering scenes? Because every scene I can reroll.
Avery/GM: So this would be So the scene for this would be from when you left Olympia. Until Until you get Captain Blitz out and away from this system.
Bee/Polaris: Okay, I initially rolled an 8 on that, uh, Dexterity stab.
Avery/GM: Sure.
Bee/Polaris: Uh, so if that's not good, I might, uh, reroll.
Jenine/Marty: Now, I have a ques I have a question.
Avery/GM: Sure.
Jenine/Marty: Are they being openly hostile to me?
Avery/GM: No, they're openly sus
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, they're kind of confused, because you're very nice.
Avery/GM: Like, they purpose Yeah, first of all, you've disarmed them with kindness. But also, the warning shot was just that. A warning shot. It was not a It was not even close to targeting your ship.
Jenine/Marty: It's me debating if I'm doing authority or if I'm doing connect. I roll three dice for connect. I don't know why this is a question. I Oh, that's sexy. I rolled two sixes.
Bee/Polaris: Nice.
Jenine/Marty: So that's So that's a 13.
Bee/Polaris: New friends! Unlocked!
Avery/GM: I mean
Jenine/Marty: Collecting them like Pokemon!
Avery/GM: That's right.
Bee/Polaris: You did kill our other ones, so we gotta replace them. No, I'm kidding.
Avery/GM: I haven't killed any of them yet.
Bee/Polaris: I'm kidding!
Avery/GM: Yeah! So Uh, Polaris, what did you roll for STAB?
Bee/Polaris: Eight.
Avery/GM: Eight? Okay, it's going along. Uh, Captain Blitz's hull is very thick for some reason. I don't know what metal he's using, but He's using some thick metal, so very hard to cut through.
Bee/Polaris: Hmm, space grade metal.
Chris/Ollie: Yeah, that's saved his life so far.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah.
Avery/GM: Yeah. Um Marty, with that good of a roll, uh, you do see that the weapon systems on this other ship have, uh, powered down. And he's just like, so you're just, you're just friendly to people, and that, that gets you through most of your situations?
Jenine/Marty: Most of the time, yes. That's why they kind of put me on the little, uh, communications.
Bee/Polaris: Polaris shouts from the background, to be fair, the only time that we've done harm is because we were defending ourselves.
Jenine/Marty: This is true. They attacked first, and wouldn't let me talk.
Avery/GM: Well, I'm gonna, I'm gonna just pretend I I didn't see anything then.
Jenine/Marty: Oh, so no tea? No tea time?
Avery/GM: No, I've got to report back to my, to my area of patrol. But, um, just try and make sure your pirate friends don't ever come back. Although, if, how many are you rescuing? Cause we, we got rid of a lot of them.
Bee/Polaris: You killed our friends?
Jenine/Marty: it sounds like just one. And then, and then Marty just does like a fake little sniffle. She's not crying, but she like, makes it sound like she is.
Avery/GM: Oh, uh, I, I, I'm sorry. That was probably a really rude question to ask. I, um, you see that we just, when pirates come into our system, we, we usually have a little
Jenine/Marty: You don't ask, you just kind of shoot first, don't even do a warning shot, shoot.
Avery/GM: Not with the pirates, no. Maybe we should really rethink that.
Jenine/Marty: They are really good friends to ask for tea. Um, if I did want to reconnect with you in the future, who should I ask for, if you're comfortable with that, to ask for tea? We also have a really good chef friend that does really good deliveries. They have really good cake.
Avery/GM: With a 13, I'm gonna give you it. Uh, he sends over his email.
Jenine/Marty: Aw, Schmexy!
Bee/Polaris: Let's go.
Chris/Ollie: Also contemplating blasting this guy.
Avery/GM: Just like, I thank you? I'm gonna maybe give this some thought and maybe Rethink my, uh, my life choices a little bit.
Chris/Ollie: I'm also contemplating just blasting this guy.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, what the fuck? This guy killed our friends!
Jenine/Marty: I
Avery/GM: Well, not, not just him.
Jenine/Marty: Know that Marty is also fuming, but again, Marty is the moral compass in this. Jenine is petty! Know that Jenine wants to to pick a fight with this, like, we'll beat down, is Aangie, but Marty wouldn't. Marty won't.
Bee/Polaris: I'm pretty sure these are the same guys that we fled, uh, away from after the, uh, the hegemony ship was destroyed. And we are in the same ship.
Avery/GM: But, Zahn reprogrammed your transponder code. It's not the same ship, it's just the same model.
Jenine/Marty: I say it again, Jenine wants to fight, Marty will not. Stupid moral compass.
Chris/Ollie: How about, so Ollie's been coding this little bug in order to send to their ship in case, you know, they get into a fight. I pre rolled for it.
Jenine/Marty: Mm-hmm .
Chris/Ollie: And got a 17.
Bee/Polaris: Oh my God.
Jenine/Marty: Oh my God.
Chris/Ollie: Could I upload it? Maybe stealthily. So the next time they get in a fight, they'll have a minus four to their command points and , they won't be able to shoot their guns or use their shields or whatever
Bee/Polaris: would be a shame
Jenine/Marty: best.
Chris/Ollie: Oh yeah. Something bad happened to you.
Bee/Polaris: After killing our friend. Marty
Jenine/Marty: doesn't know. Marty doesn't know
Avery/GM: seven. You rolled a 17 intelligence program check.
Chris/Ollie: Yeah. 'cause I got plus four program plus two int. And I roll three and drop the, the lowest, and I got a five and a six.
Avery/GM: Yeah, what am I saying? I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna challenge a, a, a god A. I. over here. Um, yeah, uh, in fact, um, Hermes sees what you're doing and you get a virtual thumbs up, just in your own private chat. And, uh, this guy's like, yeah, I think I'm gonna retire from this whole, uh, militia thing that we got going on because, yeah, we shouldn't just shoot people just because they're pirates.
Jenine/Marty: With that statement, Marty does send, like, rec Where to go in an, um, Olympia? Little thing. And like, has like, the best attractions being, um, the restaurant and the anime store. Now opening! Now open!
Bee/Polaris: Like a little brochure.
Jenine/Marty: My web of friends.
Chris/Ollie: No, this is great. This person's got a choice. Continue fighting and then die to sabotage, or retire and live a nice life in Olympia, going to anime stores.
Bee/Polaris: Now, question. Is there any way to make that little, uh, program that you said infectious, so when they dock at the hangar bay, the other ships get it?
Jenine/Marty: Could we? Marty's not there. Marty wouldn't do it. Jenine wants it.
Avery/GM: Yeah.
Chris/Ollie: Because there are bad pirates out there.
Bee/Polaris: I guess, but like, these, I mean, these guys are probably bad pirates too, but they're our friends and also, they weren't picking a fight with them, they were trying to avenge their buddy that died.
Chris/Ollie: There are bad pirates. They were.
Jenine/Marty: Sorry!
Avery/GM: Um, and, uh This little defense force person is just, uh, just lowers their weapons, turns their ship around and just says, just, uh, be out of here in like 10 minutes cause I'm not the only person out here patrolling.
Jenine/Marty: Can we make it 20?
Bee/Polaris: Eh.
Avery/GM: I, I literally cannot control the other
Jenine/Marty: 15
Avery/GM: ships that, that fly around here.
Bee/Polaris: You can catch them in a conversation.
Jenine/Marty: Yeah, could you, could you just
Bee/Polaris: dilly dally
Jenine/Marty: possibly.
Avery/GM: I'll try and catch someone in a conversation for five minutes, but five
Jenine/Marty: extra minutes.
Avery/GM: Five extra minutes? Yeah, just get outta here.
Jenine/Marty: So we get 15. Do we get a warning?
Avery/GM: Sure.
Jenine/Marty: Are you gonna send us like a, not a warning shot, but like a warning message that someone might be coming at us.
Bee/Polaris: you gonna send us a text?
Avery/GM: Just start your timer now and then the ship like jets off out of comms range.
Bee/Polaris: Hey Marty,
Jenine/Marty: God.
Avery/GM: And Polaris, as this ship takes off, the metal floor that you're cut, or the metal wall you're cutting into, uh, falls, or floats down into where this ship is, and there's a gust of air that comes out, and, um, you see Captain Blitz down there holding, uh, his breath, um, looking up at you.
Just, like, pointing, like, towards his throat, like,
Bee/Polaris: Air, yeah.
Avery/GM: Can he breathe?
Bee/Polaris: Oh, uh, I mean, can he?
Avery/GM: Yes.
Bee/Polaris: Uh, Polaris will give him a thumbs up, a call up to Marty, Hey Marty, uh, I'm kinda sad that we didn't kill that guy. Did you really want to get into another fight?
Chris/Ollie: It's been taken care of.
Jenine/Marty: What, excuse, sorry?
Bee/Polaris: Don't worry about it. And Polaris will jump down into the hole and give, uh, give Blitz the, uh, vac suit.
Avery/GM: Sure. Um, he starts putting it on, he lets out his breath, he's like, A mighty, a mighty great, uh, deed you did there, Polaris. Thank you very much. How, how'd you manage that? I thought I was goner.
Bee/Polaris: Oh wait, you mean the ship thing or the getting rid of the other guy?
Avery/GM: What other guy?
Bee/Polaris: Oh, never mind. Don't worry about it. Let's go.
Avery/GM: Oh, okay. The ship thing was me.
Bee/Polaris: The other guy was Marty.
Avery/GM: Sure. And, um, and you both climb back up through the airlock, uh, area. Um, it seals up and then you're able to push off away from the, uh, from this piece of ship. And, um, Captain Blitz follows you to the bridge and kind of just sits in the captain's seat, just out of like, habit.
Bee/Polaris: Well, Polaris won't say anything. Will Hermes say something? Because that's Hermes spot!
Jenine/Marty: That is Hermes spot.
Chris/Ollie: Yeah, none of us
Avery/GM: Hermes uh, projection does kind of like, appear right in front of the Um, the chair, and is like, tapping it's lit, it's foot.
Bee/Polaris: Cross crossing his arms, tapping his foot. VB, laughing, holographic hand points to a different chair.
Avery/GM: And Captain Blitz just ignores the little, uh, hologram and is just like, Oh, Marty, Polaris, dog, you all are Oh, Ollie! Did I meet?
Bee/Polaris: Oh, did you meet Ollie?
Avery/GM: I don't know if I met Ollie.
Bee/Polaris: Uh, Ollie was, well, Ollie is our, uh, you know, don't worry about it.
Avery/GM: Oh, okay, uh, good, good boy. Um, I, I thank you very much for, for saving me. I, uh, I wanted revenge on On the hegemony and ended up, uh, getting my butt handed to me.
Bee/Polaris: Oh, it happens to everyone. I mean, not us, but it happens to most people.
Avery/GM: Aye. I, uh, wasn't expecting the entire militia of this, uh, system to come out and defend themselves, but apparently they're kind of sick of getting picked on.
Bee/Polaris: Have you guys been picking on them?
Avery/GM: Oh no, not us, but the hegemony were. Uh, still trying to invade them, uh, since, uh, the last time they did, it didn't work, and, uh, They just, they're actually pretty good at defending themselves.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, we noticed. Well.
Avery/GM: Aye, it's, it's gonna take me years to rebuild my, my crew.
Bee/Polaris: I mean, we already have a goal of taking down the Hegemony, right? Is that what we're doing? Polaris just, like, looks at Ollie and Marty. Like, in general.
Avery/GM: Zahn yells from the engine room, That's my goal!
Chris/Ollie: Uh, Ollie will say, I guess. I've just been running up until now.
Bee/Polaris: That's fair. I mean, we've just kind of been bouncing from who to murder and then people keep asking us to do stuff and then we get caught up in stuff and then we just end up doing that stuff, but it always leads back to the hegemony and the hegemony has tried to kill us multiple times and we kind of got to kill Rhea.
Jenine/Marty: Speaking of that, we should probably, like, move out of this system, like, now ish.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Polaris will sit down in the pilot's chair and, like, turn it, like, go to the pilot's ship and says, You know what, Hermes, you could've, you can pilot the ship.
Avery/GM: Oh, yes, but I didn't want to take all the fun away from you. I know how much you like Piloting things.
Bee/Polaris: We'll just fly out of the system. We'll fly out of the area.
Avery/GM: Sure, yeah. You usually clear the area before any other patrol ships happen upon you. Captain Blitz just says, uh, where's that friend of yours that makes all the good food? I could really use something tasty.
Bee/Polaris: Uh, we were on Olympia when we got your message and they were, uh, doing a job interview. At a local bakery that we helped, uh, get on the main street, so We kinda left him back there, uh, we're probably gonna have to go back to get him, so If you want, you can come see the business that we invested in. Well, not really invested in, we bought it and gave it to the family, but it's a long story. They have really good bread. Really good cheesy bread.
Avery/GM: On one hand, I never wanted to set foot on Olympia. It's not exactly a safe place for a pirate, but
Bee/Polaris: Simply wear a disguise.
Avery/GM: Good bread is very enticing, and wearing a disguise is not a bad idea. Do you have one of those, uh, fancy mustaches with the glasses?
Bee/Polaris: No. I have this magical girl outfit. Polaris just kind of like lifts his skirt a little. He hasn't changed.
Avery/GM: Oh, and, and, reminder, Captain Blitz is a bunny person.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah. A bunny magical girl!
Jenine/Marty: Oh my god, I so forgot that.
Avery/GM: He looks it up and down and is like, I, I think I might be a little big for it, but, uh, I may, may, but a disguise is a good idea.
Aye... Arrr
Bee/Polaris: Do pirates really? Nevermind. We can get you something. We can land on Olympia. You can stay in the ship. We'll come back with a costume and you can get out of the ship.
Avery/GM: Sure. Okay. Yeah. I guess that's fine. Do you, do you know, do you happen to know, uh, A certain family on Olympia.
Bee/Polaris: The Winstons. The ones that you guys were given a job to Yeah, we were at a dinner party when, um, We were told that they hadn't heard back from you with them. We We were at dinner with them. They have really good champagne.
Avery/GM: I really should have just taken that job instead, but no, my thirst for revenge was all that fueled me. I'm a real, uh, I'm a real silly, silly captain. I suppose I should probably pay them a visit too.
Bee/Polaris: Well, I mean, they're on Olympia, so I'm sure we can probably message Avi? Polaris looks over at Marty..
Jenine/Marty: Yes.
Bee/Polaris: Okay, good. Great.
Jenine/Marty: No, because I'm, I'm trying to think, I'm like, I don't think, the thing with Marty is, I wasn't there for that entire thing.
Avery/GM: Ollie, Ollie has a good relationship with Avi.
Bee/Polaris: That is true. Polaris will look at Ollie. Can you, uh, message, uh, Avi and tell him that we, uh, we found the Crimson Chaos Pirates and the Captain Blitz is do you want to speak to them?
Avery/GM: Aye, that's probably a good idea.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, Captain Blitz wants to speak with them.
Chris/Ollie: Certainly. I'll get her on the line.
Bee/Polaris: Oh, okay. Just a speakerphone, I guess?
Chris/Ollie: Yeah.
Might as well.
Avery/GM: Ollie walks over, opens mouth. Ring. Ollie, you put in this call to Avi winston, and, uh, she answers and says, Oh, Ollie, it's so good to hear from you. I hope my money is being well spent. Did you call to have another gambling party with me?
Chris/Ollie: Unfortunately, I am currently too busy to gamble, but have it known that your money has saved our lives many times over and is much appreciated.
Avery/GM: I always try to make good investments, so I'm glad to hear it's paying off. What can I do for you today?
Chris/Ollie: Was Avi the one who told us that The Crimson Chaos Pirates are missing?
Bee/Polaris: It was Shen. Uh,
Avery/GM: her, her dad's did yeah.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah.
Chris/Ollie: Oh.
Bee/Polaris: Uh, they just said that, uh, they hadn't heard back. They didn't know what happened to them.
Avery/GM: And Avi did say that if you did hear anything to like
Chris/Ollie: Well.
Avery/GM: Totally appropriate to
Chris/Ollie: we found the captain of the Crimson Chaos Pirates, or what is left of them. He is heavily injured and the crew is decimated, but he would like to speak with you.
Avery/GM: Aye, Avi. Ah, this is Captain Blitz, the, the, well I guess it's just the pirate, not uh, not even really a captain anymore, you can't captain without a crew, um, anyway I was just uh, reaching out, hoping to meet with you here soon, uh, maybe uh, taking on some jobs, maybe take on some crew, and uh, maybe uh, get Winstons.
And Avi replies back and says, I can talk to my fathers and see if they would like to meet with you. Are you coming to Olympia, or should we meet at the usual spot? And Captain Blitz just says, Uh, well, the, my, my rescuers still have business on Olympia, so probably I'll just meet you at your, uh, Palatial estate, as it were.
See you, what, a day or so? Two days? How long's the trip?
Bee/Polaris: I can get us there fast. I mean, we got here in eight hours.
Avery/GM: Aye, you did. You did do that. That's very impressive. Aye, I'll see you in about eight hours, then. And Avi just says, Well, I'm looking forward to it. Ollie, do take care of yourself. Um, and Polaris, Zahn, Marty, Bruce, you all have a good rest of your day.
Bee/Polaris: Bruce isn't here, but okay.
Avery/GM: Yeah, she don't know that.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, that's why Polaris specified.
Avery/GM: And the call gets disconnected.
Bee/Polaris: Oh wait, before she hangs up, Polaris will say, Do you want cheesy bread? We can send cheesy bread with Captain Blitz.
Avery/GM: She's like, Oh, I've already picked some up. That store is very good, by the way.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, they're pretty cool. Wait, how did you know that we never mind. Okay.
Avery/GM: And y'all head back to Olympia, go ahead and roll another Dexterity Pilot.
Bee/Polaris: Can I get a bonus for taking the same path? 15
Avery/GM: Yeah, that's still, yeah, because you rolled 16 last time, so. No, that's great. Yeah, you make it back in eight hours again. You land in the same exact spot that you did before. And you're gonna go get Captain Blitz a disguise.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah, a disguise to some cheesy bread.
Avery/GM: Okay, sure.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah. Oh, also some, maybe some carrot cake. Cause he's a rabbit.
Chris/Ollie: Yeah. We need to find Bruce.
Bee/Polaris: Well, yeah, I assume on the way there.
Chris/Ollie: He's, uh, he's applying for a spot at a bakery. You turned it into an impromptu audition and be like, quick, we need the giant disguised carrot cake. Only you can do this, Bruce.
Avery/GM: So yeah. So y'all first. Just hit up the uh, disguise place, you go back into the armor shop and this big boulder person is there and it's just like, Oh, uh, you're, you're back, back already. First thing in the morning. And what kind of disguise do you pick out for Captain Blitz?
Bee/Polaris: Uh, Polaris will ask him what kind of disguise he wants, he's not gonna make him dress up in something he might be uncomfortable with.
Avery/GM: Oh sure, okay, that's sweet. He says, I'll uh, I'll send ya a message of what I have in mind.
And he sends you pictures of like, different like, team mascots, like a giant panda, or like, anything with like a big like, boxy like, head attachment to cover his face.
Bee/Polaris: Polaris will get a rabbit.
Avery/GM: Sure.
Bee/Polaris: Okay. Because it only makes sense, you know?
Avery/GM: Yeah. Totally.
Bee/Polaris: Because else it wouldn't fit his ears.
Chris/Ollie: They would never suspect.
Bee/Polaris: Yeah. I mean, he's a mascot. Who would suspect?
Avery/GM: Yeah.
Bee/Polaris: I mean, the other option was a tiger. So he shows up at the Winston’s.
Avery/GM: I'm a member of the family. You get your costume, your bunny costume, or not your bunny costume, Blitz's bunny costume, and you walk into the Red River Farms bakery shop and you see Bruce sitting at a table.
It's the next morning, obviously. Um, you message him, let him know that you'd be Off world, so he got a room at the local hotel. Saw a stand up show. It was all great.
Bee/Polaris: Oh my gosh.
Avery/GM: And he is sitting there with a nice cup of tea, and he looks up at you and just says, Oh, hey guys, I'm glad you're all here. Uh, you ready to talk?
And that's where we're gonna end it.
